Customizing Chargent

The Salesforce Lightning Platform is designed to allow users to create custom solutions, both declaratively (via clicks) and programmatically (via code). Chargent is an application built 100% in Salesforce; therefore, custom solutions can expand on Chargent’s standard functionality, allowing you to meet your business requirements.

Below, we’ve added examples of ways to customize Chargent to meet your needs.

Email Receipts and Notifications #

Calculating & Customizing Amounts #

Chargent Anywhere will create a Chargent Order record with different fields that make up the Total. You can customize the fields by understanding which fields are sent to the payment gateway and creating Workflow Rules that update the Charge Amount on the Chargent Order.

Field History Tracking #

Salesforce’s Field History Tracking feature is a useful audit trail for reviewing or troubleshooting past changes. We recommend enabling history tracking on key fields on the Chargent Order and Transaction for auditing purposes.

Chargent is very useful, and is able to make complicated integrations much more straightforward. In just a few minutes, the setup wizard is able to connect you to a variety of different gateways to test or process live transactions. There’s also good documentation to walk you through the specifics of integrating with a particular gateway. The few complications I’ve run into have been handled by a capable and friendly support team.
