The third wave of technology is anticipating what users want and putting it right in front of them. We understand you want easy access to the right information. That’s why Chargent has implemented Context-Sensitive Help buttons, linking you directly to relevant topics based on your location. Your users no longer have to search documentation from the website or Knowledge Base articles, although those are still available. Instead, click the help button from any tab, detail page, list view, or related list.
Use intuitive help buttons to:
- Find answers quickly and easily
- Minimize frustration and configure Chargent with ease
- Enjoy an improved user experience
Note: Chargent intuitive help is being released in iterations starting with Chargent Orders Help on the Orders tab. We plan to release help buttons on other tabs and subtabs in future releases so stay tuned to our release notes.
How It Works #
Salesforce has an important feature on every custom object that allows you to redirect the standard Salesforce help links to a page with help about your custom object.
When redirected to the appropriate Chargent help topic, it automatically displays Chargent’s help topics on any Chargent tab, detail page, list view, and related list without changing the standard “Help for this Page” link at the top right of every page.
This covers every help link in Salesforce Classic. So, we’ve added custom buttons to all lightning pages as well. A Chargent Orders Help button is now available on all detail page layouts, as illustrated above. Chargent also has a custom list button available for all list views.
Regardless of the Salesforce mode you choose to use, Chargent help is available in both lightning and classic, with buttons you can add to your additional custom page layouts.
Displaying Help Buttons #
Help buttons are displayed in Chargent page layouts when you upgrade to the version that contains them. So, no action is needed if you use the page layouts included with Chargent. You can add these buttons to your custom page layouts, list views, and related lists as needed.
Adding Help Buttons To Detail Pages
- Click the App Launcher icon at the top-left of your screen and choose Chargent.
- Go to the detail page that needs the new button added.
- Click the gear icon and choose Edit Page.
- Select the component box that contains all the buttons.
- Optionally, change the Visible Action Buttons to display more buttons in desktop mode. You can display up to ten, so you don’t have to expand the set before choosing one.
- Drag the Chargent Help button to where you want it displayed in the set of buttons. Standard Salesforce help is available at the top right of page layouts. You may have to click Upgrade Now to update your page layouts.
- Click Save and activate on additional layouts as needed.
Adding Help Buttons To List Views
No action is needed on your part. These buttons are added to all list views when you upgrade Chargent. But here’s how to add custom buttons to other list view layouts:
- Click the gear icon and choose Edit Object.
- Select the List View Button Layout in the left sidebar.
- Choose Edit from the down arrow and add the button to all your list views.
- Click Save.
Adding Help Buttons To Related Lists
You may want to add custom buttons to related lists on other detail pages. For example, you may want to add a button to the Transactions related list on the Orders object that displays Understanding Transactions rather than Understanding Chargent Orders. Here’s how to set this up for all your custom layouts.
- Click the App Launcher icon at the top-left of your screen and choose Chargent.
- Go to the detail page that needs the new button added.
- Click the gear icon and choose Edit Page.
- Click the component that contains the related list and the layout name in the preview pane to the right.
- Click Related Lists from the toolbar at the top.
- Click the wrench icon from the related list. For example, click the wrench icon from the Transaction related list on the Orders layout to add the button to the related list on the Chargent Orders detail page.
- Click the plus icon under Buttons and add the Chargent Help button to the related list.
- Click OK and Save the page layout.
Note: The Payment Methods related list is not available to be added to your page layouts in Salesforce classic. Switch to lightning to change this.
Considerations #
- If you use Chargent in classic, no action is needed. After you update to the most current release, all help links on Chargent objects display Chargent help topics.
- Chargent Context-Sensitive Help does not need to be enabled. Simply upgrade to the latest version of Chargent and use the page layouts included.
- Chargent Context-Sensitive Help buttons cannot be disabled. However, you can remove them from your page layouts as needed.
- Help buttons are labeled “Chargent Help” when the object name is too lengthy to fit on a button.
