Chargent Reports Updated to Include Surcharging Data
A new report titled “Surcharging – By Month” has been added, allowing you to track your monthly surcharge fees as they relate to your Chargent Order and Transaction records. In addition, the ‘Surcharge Fee Amount’ and ‘Total Amount’ fields have been added to the following existing reports:
- All Transactions Last 90
- All Transactions by Month
- Transactions by Gateway
- Transactions by Month (2 Years)

To access this feature, navigate to the Transaction record and click the ‘Partial Refund’ button in the top right (you may need to click the down arrow to view the button). At the bottom of the window, the fee will be displayed under ‘Current transaction fee amount’. Click ‘Refund Fee’ to initiate the refund.

Always Display Surcharge Percentage Checkbox
The US and Canada have slightly different regulations regarding surcharging. Specifically, Canada’s regulations require that the surcharge percentage be displayed for all transactions. To support surcharging for Canadian customers, we’ve added the option to always display the surcharge percentage for all transactions. This checkbox is available on the final step in the Gateway Setup Wizard, titled ‘Credit Card Surcharging’. Check the ‘Always Display Surcharge Percentage’ checkbox if you plan to include a surcharge for your Canadian customers.
Surcharging Error Handling
Improved the overall error handling for the surcharging feature, enhancing the user’s experience and simplifying the troubleshooting process. This includes the following updates:
- When a callout to the Interpayments API fails due to invalid credentials, Chargent will send an email notification to the Chargent administrator, stating “Credentials for Interpayments are no longer valid for endpoint ‘ + endpoint + ‘. The System administrator was notified.”. In this case, the payment operation will not be blocked, allowing your users to continue processing payments.
- Since a correctly formatted Postal Code is required for InterPayments to successfully surcharge, the validation related to the postal code has been updated for surcharged payments, specifically ensuring that the correct format is entered for US and Canadian transactions.
Chargent for Commerce Cloud – Cybersource Certification Requirement
Cybersource is changing the way it connects to Salesforce, requiring customers to upload a certificate obtained from Cybersource to their Salesforce org. Cybersource plans to enforce this requirement for test gateway accounts on July 16, 2025, and in production gateway accounts on August 12, 2025. These dates are subject to change by Cybersource. We recommend all Cybersource customers start preparing for this transition as soon as possible.
After updating to Chargent v7.95 or later, customers using Chargent for Commerce Cloud and Cybersource should follow the steps outlined in the Chargent for Commerce Cloud: Cybersource Certificate Requirement.
Bug Fixes #
Resolved: Surcharging Fee Decimal Place Rounding Issue
Fixed an issue wherein, when using the Payment Console, the Surcharge Fee would intermittently calculate with more than two decimal places (for example, $2.333333), resulting in a failed transaction with some gateways. We recommend that all customers using surcharging ensure they are on Chargent version 7.95 or higher.
